BADAM Coal Block
The Badam Coal Block has been allotted by Nominated Authority, Ministry of Coal vide Allotment Order No. 103/20/2015/NA Dt. 31.08.2015. The end use plant for the block is 2×250 MW BTPS Extension Project.
The block covering an area of 3.27 sq. KM is bounded by latitude of 23o48’30” & 23o50’40”N and longitude 85o17’10” and 85o18’25”E and is covered by Survey of India Toposheets 73E/5 on 1:50,000 (1982). It is located in the northeastern part of the North Karanpura Coalfield and within the administrative jurisdiction of Hazaribagh District.
The Badam block is approachable from Badam village through a 2 KM Kutcha road. The Badam village in turn is connected by a metallic road to Barkagaon village located on Tandwa-Hazaribagh metalled road at a distance of about 10 KM. The Barkagaon village is located on the Tandwa-Hazaribagh metalled road. The block, however, becomes unapproachable during rainy season due to absence of a bridge over the Badmahi River flowing roughly along the western part of the block. The distance from the block to Hazaribagh town is about 35 KM. The nearest Railway station is Bes at a distance of about 7 KM.
